Team TW prepping for coating
10th May
The boys in Team TW have been hard at work over the last few days, stripping and prepping the roof of this lovely New Forest Cottage and have been blessed with some glorious weather to work in. The ridge runs have been sparred and the new ridge rolls have been fixed to the apex ready for the new ridge and the full wheat reed re-thatch is now well underway. Soon the boys in Team TW will be able to get going on the flush ridge which will be at least 5″ thick and which will be added to the finished thatch using top quality combed wheat reed and then fixed with spars and ledgers. To finish the job off, a cement flashing will be applied at the junction between the chimney and thatch to create a water proof seal and the coat work and eave runs will be dressed and cut to a superb finish with a new galvanised wire netting added to keep it all proper.
It is going to look beautiful when it is finished, another eco-friendly, sustainable and natural roof in the New Forest.
